A Celebration of Cuban Colors in Poster Design
When tasked with creating a poster for the Alfredo Rodriguez Trio as part of the IS SANAT concert program, we wanted to craft a visual narrative as vibrant and dynamic as Rodriguez’s music. Inspired by his Cuban heritage, tropical energy, and distinctive personal style, the poster captures the essence of Alfredo Rodriguez both as a musician and as a storyteller.

A Kaleidoscope of Cuban Identity

The design centers on a colorful figure covered by Cuban tropical plants, evoking the lively patterns of the iconic Cuban shirts Rodriguez is known for. This bold and lively composition mirrors the tropical vibrancy of his music, blending tradition with a modern twist. A highlight of the poster is the inclusion of Rodriguez’s colorful eyeglasses, a signature part of his look, further emphasizing his individuality and creativity.

Music That Lives and Breathes Stories

Alfredo Rodriguez famously says, “I play what I live, and Coral Way is my new life.” His latest album, Coral Way, is a celebration of his experiences, blending Latin pop, timba, salsa, bachata, tango, reggaeton, and bolero into a sound that reflects Miami’s rich cultural tapestry. Much like his music, the poster design is a fusion of vibrant elements, inviting audiences to immerse themselves in his world.

A Journey Through Passion and Perseverance

Born and raised in Havana, Cuba, Rodriguez’s journey to global recognition is a testament to his determination. From practicing on a painted dinner table in his childhood to earning a Grammy® nomination and collaborating with music legends like Quincy Jones, his story is one of resilience and creativity. This spirit is echoed in our poster design, where each element—from the tropical motifs to the dynamic composition—reflects his ability to connect and inspire through music.

Connecting Art, Music, and Community

Rodriguez’s music serves as a bridge between worlds, much like his album Coral Way, which unites mainstream Latin music with Latin jazz. Similarly, the poster design aims to create a connection—between his Cuban roots, his Miami-inspired sound, and the global audience that celebrates his art.

At I Mean It Creative, designing the Alfredo Rodriguez Trio poster was an honor. It’s more than a piece of promotional material; it’s a visual homage to an artist whose music transcends borders, blending individuality, tradition, and innovation into a harmonious celebration of culture.
